About Mission Possibly

Mission Possibly is a Singapore group of adventure brands. We get people outside, teach them to get properly good at something hard, and send them home with people they'll go again with.

Two brands are live and three are launching, all run by one shared team:

  • ESC (Every Season Counts): snowboard camps that take you up a level, in Japan, Switzerland and China. Includes Steezy Snow, our snowsports festival.

  • cat.treks: adventure trips for women, led by women.

  • Launching: ALT (A Little Taller) for hiking, and CurioTour for family trips.

We are bootstrapped, profitable and building this to last 30 years, not to sell in 3. Most of our team works remotely across Asia.

About the role

We need someone senior enough to own our numbers, but our finance work doesn't need 40 hours a week. So we want an experienced finance professional for a few days a month. You set up the system, check the numbers and advise the CEO. An intern does the volume work under you.

Travel finance is different. Customers pay months before they travel, we pay suppliers in yen, francs and yuan, and cash timing matters more than profit on paper. If you've done finance for a travel agency, tour operator or events company, you'll feel at home.

This role suits an experienced accountant who wants senior work on flexible hours, such as a parent returning to work or a finance professional building a portfolio of clients.

What you'll own

AreaWhat you deliver
Monthly close and reportingClose the books each month for every group company. A one-page finance pack: profit by brand and trip, cash position, customer money held for future trips, supplier deposits paid, and what changed.
Travel accountingCustomer payments held as deposits until departure, then recognised as revenue. Supplier deposits moved to cost in the departure month. Foreign-exchange gains and losses recorded correctly.
Cash flow and treasuryA rolling 13-week cash forecast and supplier payment schedule. A written cash policy: the minimum buffer, and where surplus cash goes once supplier payments are covered.
Singapore complianceMain contact for our external accounting and corporate secretary firm. Year-end accounts, unaudited financial statements, corporate income tax filings with IRAS and annual filings with ACRA for each company, all on time. Tracks the GST registration threshold.
Systems and controlsOur Airwallex expense labelling and accounting system kept clean. Approval limits, the reimbursement policy and a weekly payment run.
GrantsApply for Singapore government grants and submit claims on time with the right documents.
AdviceClear, honest advice to the CEO on margins, pricing, cash and banking. Flag risks early, in plain language.

How we measure success

North Star: a correct monthly finance pack by working day 10, and no cash surprises.

MeasureTarget
Monthly finance pack deliveredBy working day 10, every month
13-week cash forecast accuracyWithin ±10% of actual
Transactions labelled (brand, trip, account)98%+ within 7 days
Supplier payments made on schedule100%
IRAS and ACRA filingsZero late filings
Grant claims submitted by deadline100%
Cash policy written and agreedWithin your first 90 days

Your first 90 days

  1. Close the latest two months and agree the finance pack format with the CEO.

  2. Review the last six months of transactions across Stripe, Airwallex and our bank, and fix any gaps.

  3. Build the 13-week cash forecast and supplier payment schedule for the winter season.

  4. Set approval limits and the reimbursement policy, and train the intern on them.

  5. Write the cash and treasury policy.

What you'll bring

  • 5+ years in accounting or finance, with at least 2 years owning a monthly close. ACCA, CA (Singapore), CPA or equivalent preferred.

  • A solid grasp of Singapore requirements: IRAS corporate income tax (Form C-S/C), GST registration rules, withholding tax on overseas payments, ACRA annual filings, and Singapore Financial Reporting Standards for small entities.

  • Hands-on with cloud accounting systems such as Xero or QuickBooks, plus multi-currency payment platforms such as Airwallex and Stripe.

  • Fluent with AI tools (Claude, ChatGPT or similar) for reconciliations, analysis and reporting, and careful about checking the results.

  • Travel, tourism or events finance experience strongly preferred: customer deposits, supplier deposits and foreign exchange.

  • Clear communicator. You can explain cash flow to a founder in five minutes.

  • Nice to have: Singapore grant applications (e.g. Enterprise Development Grant, Productivity Solutions Grant); experience with group structures of several small companies.

How we work

  • Remote, from any country. You need at least 4 hours a day overlapping with Singapore time (GMT+8).

  • AI-first. We use Claude and other AI tools every day to research, draft and analyse. You check the output before anyone relies on it.

  • Write it down. Short, clear updates beat long meetings.

  • Small team, real ownership. You own outcomes, not just tasks.

  • Fixed monthly rhythm, flexible hours. The close and finance pack have fixed dates; when you do the work is up to you.

How to apply

Apply through the application form on this page with your CV and a short note (under 200 words) on why this role fits you.

Shortlisted candidates do a paid test task of about 3 hours:

  1. Using one anonymised month of our transaction and booking data, produce a profit summary by brand.

  2. List anything that looks wrong and what you would check.

  3. Write a half-page note to the CEO on the cash position.

We look at your judgement and accuracy as much as your speed.
